Year 10

54 units available

Year 10 students complete the final year of the core program with broader elective choice and the option to begin VCE Units 1 & 2 or VET subjects where eligible. Use the passport documents below as a worksheet to record your subject preferences before submitting them through EdVal.

Read the Selection Guide before completing your passport.

What if I am going into Year 10 next year?

In Term 3 this year, you will choose 12 units of your program (plus 4 second round units).

  • You will be placed in 2 Maths, 2 English, 1 Science and 1 Humanities unit for the year.
  • You must choose at least 1 Physical Education unit or be placed in 10PM6 - PE.
  • You can then choose other units from any KLA.
  • If eligable, you may select a VCE Unit 1 and 2 sequence; or one full year VET option as part of your program.
  • You will also need to choose 4 round 2 units - 1 unit from each of: Technology; and Arts then any other units - in case you can’t get your round 1 units

NOTE: Any VCE Unit 1 and 2 Sequences that are available to Year 10 students to select are labelled as ‘Early Access’ units and are listed on the Year 10 Selection Grid in the Year 10 Grid (see Year Level Grids) and on your Passport as green coloured units.

You may apply to study an additional VCE Unit 1 and 2 sequence.  To do this you will still need to select a full program online, and then complete an "Additional VCE Unit 1 and 2 Subject Application form" which is available from the IT Office. This needs to be fully completed and returned to the IT Office by the closing date for selections.

If you wanted to study a VCE unit 1 and 2 sequence and weren't eligable, you need to select a full program online, and then complete a "VCE Unit 1 and 2 Subject Application form" which is available from the IT Office. This needs to be fully completed and returned to your Year Level Manager.

It will be helpful if you can decide which Senior Pathway you intend to follow – either VCE or a VCE-VM pathway.

Seek counselling advice to ensure your course prepares you for your future studies.

What if I am going into the Year 10 SEAL Program next year?

You will do the same as above. The difference is because you have completed some of the Year 10 requirements you will have greater flexibility to select subjects, including VCE Unit 1 and 2 sequences as part of your program.
