Full Description

We live in a media saturated world where it is almost impossible to avoid the influence of technology. This technology is also becoming an intricate part of our lives. The media is the most influential and accessible agent of social conditioning in today�s society. Visual literacy and discernment is therefore essential to every student. Media Studies offers one of the most exciting fields for the development of creativity, educational challenges, social awareness and analysis. Advanced Media Studies looks at new media technologies, especially the consumers use of social media, research into how new media is consumed and the changing from traditional ways media has been used and the changes that have happened over the past twenty years. Advanced Media continues the students� understanding and comprehension of narrative structures and social values connected to the consumption, production and distribution of media products. Units of work may include: Creating Vlogs; Audience specific commercials; Studying narrative texts; Editing and manipulating existing texts; Exercises in editing both sound and vision.
