Select Entry including swim test and written application. This unit is a double unit and must be selected for two semesters. Students must complete PE Action at Level B.

Unit Outline

What skills and knowledge are necessary to ensure that the public and individuals are able to use the open water environment safely?

Full Description

Students will become qualified lifesavers and will be involved in Volunteer surf patrols over the summer months. Students will gain their Surf Rescue certificate and/or their Surf Bronze award. Students will be able to provide First Aid to patients, assess and manage their airways and communicate with the general public and patrol group members.

Note: Students will be supplied with a uniform, which must be worn on class days. It is strongly advised that students have access to a full-length wetsuit. There is no additional cost for the second semester of the ADVANCE unit. However, students may be asked to make a small contribution towards camps when they occur throughout the year. The Narrawong camp is an optional activity and is at the students� own expense. Cost - Approx $180 Camp
