Full Description
Core Humanities covers all four of the humanities domains in the Victorian Curriculum 2.0. In year 10 history, students will explore the causes of World War I and World War II. They will then undertake a depth study of World War II with a focus on Australia's contributions, perspectives and experiences of the war in both the European and Pacific Theatres. The will reflect on the causes and diverse experiences in relation to the Holocaust. Geography will focus on the geographies of interconnection and human wellbeing, such as the role technology and transport has played in human experiences and the measures of human wellbeing. In the economics and business domain (a lead in to Business management and accounting in higher levels) students will explore more deeply the world of work, such as setting up a tax file number and superannuation fund, and the role that Centrelink plays in the economy. In civics and citizenship (a lead in to legal studies at higher levels) students learn about the features of Australia's court system and reflect on how well Australia's legal system can provide justice.
