Swimming ability. Students will undertake a proficiency test for this class in the pool during weeks 1 and 2; involving continuous swimming ability and treading water ability.

Unit Outline

What makes the outdoors such a popular and exciting place for physical activity?

Full Description

Students will develop their skills and self-confidence in surfing, snorkelling, canoeing, horse-riding, archery and orienteering. Students will improve their levels of general health and fitness through outdoor activities. Students will demonstrate a thorough understanding of numerous environmental issues associated with outdoor activities and will develop an excellent appreciation for the outdoor environment and its care.

Students will use technology to improve their knowledge whilst they complete a major project and theory workbook.

Note: This unit is designed to develop student knowledge and skills for safe participation in a variety of outdoor environments. This unit is preparation for VCE Outdoor Education Units 1 and 2.
