The Arts Key Learning Area covers a broad range of creative endeavours and teaches skills and techniques in the use of a vast array of artistic mediums and materials. The Visual Arts includes:
Yr 8 Art, Yr 9 Studio Arts, Yr 10 Advanced Studio Arts, VCE Units 1-4 Studio Arts.
Yr 8, Yr 9 -10 and VCE Units 1-4 Visual Communication Design.
Yr 9 Media, Yr 10 Advanced Media and VCE Units 1-4 Media.
Studies can lead to various Arts-related employment, university/tertiary courses, music trades or theatre studies’ industries.
Students must choose at least two Arts units in their Personal Learning Program over the two-year period including at least one unit at Year 8 and one unit at Year 9. It is advised that students wanting to specialise in a particular Arts subject at VCE or VET level choose two units from that area prior to entering VCE or VET. An interview may be required for students with no experience who choose a VCE or VET unit in the Arts area.
