To want to take your art skills to another level while enjoying art making and being creative!
This unit will extend the skills, techniques and knowledge beyond those taught at Year 7 level.
Year 8 Art is exciting, dynamic and full of creativity that encourages students to explore art making. You will learn to create; a Pop Art painting, a Cubist ceramic mask, 3D printing, realistic drawing of facial proportions, introduction to Photoshop, environmental art, stencilling, still life drawing and lino printing.
Students will learn to assess the purpose and suitability of selected media, materials, techniques and processes in developing artworks. They will explore ways to design artworks by combining and manipulating art elements. Students will learn to plan and develop artworks for specific aims and purposes, through visual and annotated documentation. They will learn to produce a range of two and three-dimensional artworks using multi-media. Students will use appropriate art language when discussing observations and reflections on traditional and contemporary artworks. They will evaluate the qualities in artworks based on a comparative analysis of the ways the art elements and art principles, media, materials, skills, techniques and processes have been used.
