How can I become a better performer? What skills do I need to develop to create and present informed performances and original music?
Students will further their understanding and skills in reading, writing, composing and performing music as individuals and in small ensembles. Students will explore different styles of music and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music. The aim is for students to progress their; * Confidence in playing an instrument and reading different forms of notation. (You do not have to have prior experience playing a musical instrument to enrol in this class. All students will be given the opportunity to develop basic performance skills on either the keyboard, guitar, bass, drums or as a vocalist during class time. Students who already play an instrument will be given the opportunity to continue developing their skills as a musician on their chosen instrument.)* Critical and creative thinking skills to analyse music and create unique interpretations of songs. * Capacity to solve problems when composing their own song using live instruments and/or electronic music.
