9

This unit is made to build on the skills developed in ‘Digital Makers’ however, there is no pre-request. Students delve further into robotics, circuitry and coding. They are introduced to industry standard Computer Aided Design, and game making software. Students will also further their knowledge of network systems, binary representation and compression of audio and imagery. Data Science is also developed.

Students who complete this unit will undertake more complex coding tasks and develop a broader understanding of coding in C++. Students will focus on developing a range of digital product solutions. In the later part of the course, real life problems will be identified such as ‘how do I create a device that catches mice without harming them’. Students then use the design process, including robotics, to develop a real working catcher. Students will develop skills in computer aided design (CAD) to produce C02 powered rocket cars utilising industry standard software and hardware. Game maker software Unity will be used to customise games. Students will learn to analyse, visualise, clean, order and filter data such as tracked crocodile GPS data across W.A. Students will also grasp the main concepts behind internet infrastructure and website creation with HTML and CSS.
