Personal digital technologies are all around us but how do they work? How can I understand and make digital technologies of my own? What are the fundamentals of code programming and how can I create code to read and control sensors and motors?
Students who undertake this unit will learn the basic concepts of electricity and circuitry including using common components to make practical circuits. Participants will be introduced to micro controllers and learn foundation skills in creating and modifying C based code when making robotic products such as lamps, Illuminated posters, electronic catapults and electric dice. Students will apply design principles to their projects and learn how to evaluate their work. In computing students will understand how binary represents images, text and numbers. Students will develop spreadsheet skills and gain a better knowledge of networks. Lastly students will modify computer game code in industry standard gaming making software package Unity.
