Successful completion of any Year 9 Science unit.
This will prepare students wishing to complete VCE Physics and is highly recommended for those considering this subject
How can we accurately measures speed? Why do planes fly? Why do magnets interact with electric current to make things spin?
Students will construct their own working electric model plane and will investigate the key components of the aircraft motion, including: where an object is? How fast is it going? How quickly is it’s speed changing? Students will apply their knowledge of position, velocity and acceleration to investigate Newton’s 3 laws of motion. Students will investigate how magnets can be used to create electric motors and the circuitry required to build a throttle control for their electric motor on their plane. Students also construct an electric motor, which will be analysed with an oscilloscope to determine the motors RPM.
