Yr 9 HUMS: Further taste of Humanities

hums

9

‘A Further Taste of Humanities’ aims to present three of the main areas in the humanities domain – History, Economics and business, Civics and citizenship. In year 10 you may then choose to specialise in one of these areas in World War 2, The Fight for Rights (history), Let’s talk business (Economics) or Living in a democracy (Civics and citizenship, which leads into Legal studies in VCE). Some of the areas you will look at within these three subjects are: How does the economy work; how can we be effective and responsible consumers? Understanding Laws that affect Young People. Understanding how our government works. Understand what the legal system is and how it works. World War One – what caused WW1, what was Australia’s involvement in WW1, what were some key battles and campaigns, what was the soldier’s experience in the trenches? This subject is for those who aren’t sure what type of humanities they like.
