This subject involves health and pathways related theory and will also include some practical based tasks/activities which are linked to the theoretical components of the course. This unit is a compulsory unit for all students that MUST be completed during Year 9.

What factors affect development, relationship and lifestyle choices during the adolescent years and what strategies can be used to ensure the health of adolescents? How do I navigate the pathways from school to further education, training and employment?

Which factors affect identity, relationship and lifestyle choices during the adolescent years? What strategies can be used to maximise the health of youths? How do I navigate the pathways from school to further education, training and employment?
Students will consider their personal identity, factors that influence their values, likes and learning styles. They will explore and expand their knowledge of the opportunities that exist in the world of work, understand the pathways into senior school options, further education and training. They will have an opportunity to prepare for the Work Experience program. This will include completing the Safe at Work program, completing a resume and developing an understanding of their rights and responsibilities as a member of the workforce.
Students will also consider friendships/relationships and identify different roles, rights and responsibilities in human relations. Students will gain knowledge and awareness of sexual health and drug issues (legal and illegal) whilst considering harm minimisation strategies.
