Vocational Education and Training (VET)

VET Units are industry-accredited studies that students can complete in a range of ways.  VET units are a compulsory component of VCE-VM but can also give credit to VCE completion.

VET Structure

Students may incorporate one or more VET certificates into their VCE or VCE-VM programs.

Brauer provides a range of VET training through the expertise of its own teachers and has strong partnerships with other VET providers, such as TAFE.

The exact detail of what happens in a VET course depends on the program and the provider.  The Careers’ Counsellor provides detailed information to students and parents when particular programs are looked at.

There is a broad range of VET programs that students can access as part of their senior studies at Brauer College.  Some of the programs our students have undertaken in recent years include:

All VET programs include varying amounts of specialised training that can only be provided by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).  There is a cost to providing this specialised training.  The Federal and State Education Departments provide additional funding to allow students to participate in accredited VET programs, however many programs which are delivered through external providers still incur significant upfront costs.

Information about VET programs delivered through South West TAFE can be accessed at http://www.swtafe.vic.edu.au/TAFEis/general/whatis.aspx#vetis

FEES (Materials)

VET fees can vary, depending on the course chosen.  Please contact our Careers’ Counsellor to find out the current fee structure.

FEES (External Provider Enrolment)

There are large upfront enrolment fees with an external provider.  Up to $1000 can be incurred with external RTO’s (Registered Training Organisations, e.g., South West TAFE).
