Year 11 — Vocational Major

10 units available

Year 11 students choose between the VCE pathway (Units 1 & 2) and the VCE Vocational Major (VCE-VM) pathway, with VET options available within both. Use the passport documents below as a worksheet to record your subject preferences before submitting them through EdVal.

Read the Selection Guide before completing your passport.

Which Senior School Certificate should I study - VCE or VCE-VM?

While it is possible to reach most goals from either certificate, or from a combined program, VCE and VCE-VM each have a particular focus.

Generally, VCE will lead students to university courses or work.

Generally, VCE-VM will lead students to apprenticeships, traineeships and other employment.

What if I am going into Year 11 next year?

For a VCE pathway you must choose a total of 6 VCE or VET subjects.  Generally, they will be at Units 1 and 2 level, but you might consider extension studies at Units 3 and 4 level in one subject if eligable.

If you intend to study an additional VCE unit 3 and 4 sequence, you must complete the "Additional VCE Unit 3 and 4 Subject application form" which is available from the IT Office. This needs to be fully completed and returned to your Year Level Coordinator.

If you wanted to study a VCE unit 3 and 4 sequence and weren't eligable, you must complete the "VCE Unit 3 and 4 Subject application form" which is available from the IT Office. This needs to be fully completed and returned to the IT Office by the closing date for selections

Choose your subjects based on your further study or career aspirations.  Refer to the VCE or VCE-VM requirements in the Senior Programs Handbook.

Seek counselling advice to ensure your course prepares you for your future pathways.
