Year 9 Ceramics and Sculpture is a creative and practical subject where you will create exciting 3D artworks. You will learn ceramic handbuilding techniques including coil, slab and pinch construction while designing your own creative sculptures. You will experiment, build and develop your ideas like a real artist while documenting your creative process in a visual arts journal.
Full Description
Year 9 Ceramics and Sculpture focuses on building your creative skills in ceramics and 3D artmaking. Throughout the semester, you will learn how to combine ceramic handbuilding techniques including slab, coil and pinch to create a range of unique ceramic forms. You will explore different clay types, glazing methods and surface decoration techniques, while learning how ceramics are fired and finished. Students will also create sculptural artworks using a variety of materials and techniques including wire armatures. You will plan, develop and document your ideas in a visual arts journal, using drawing and annotations to explore materials, techniques and processes like a practising artist.
