Unit Outline

This unit is designed to introduce students to the core concepts of Digital Technologies, digital systems and security, data information and privacy and creating digital solutions.

Full Description

Students who undertake this unit will learn the basics of how data is transmitted and secured in networks. They learn to identify and protect against cyber security threats. Students will learn how computers use binary to represent images, texts and numbers. Students learn how to acquire, manipulate and validate data using Microbits for data collection and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets for manipulation and validation. Students will apply the problem solving methodology to design, develop and evaluate class projects involving Microbits and Vex robots. They will learn the basic fundamentals of algorithms and programming with the Python language.
