Technology Taster Unit
Students in this unit explore five areas: wood, metal, plastics, automotive, and electrical.They gain hands-on experience designing and producing useful products. Students will apply the design process to create solutions to common needs or problems while developing foundational workshop and design skills for further study in Technology.
Metals and Plastics Taster
Students apply the design process to create products using metals and plastics. They learn to safely use tools, machines, and processes, and develop skills in analysing and evaluating product design.
Woodwork Taster
Students develop basic woodworking skills and construct timber projects. They apply Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) principles, design thinking, and evaluate their work.
Automotive Taster
Students learn safe workshop practices, use hand tools and basic testing equipment, and explore manufacturing and assembly techniques. They also develop skills in diagnosing simple faults.
Electrical Taster
Students explore basic electrical circuits and components. They apply the design process to create simple circuit based products, while learning and applying safe practices..
